I think that the pictures will tell the story – yesterday was a tremendous success with around 50 groups coming to Mission Beach to share their enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for the far north…it was a BRILLIANT day. Approx 4000 people attended, the Threatened Species Commissioner Gregory Andrews talked to people about his passion for the natural environment and listened to concerns. There were too many leaders in their field to list, hero’s of science, conservation and land management – it really was an inspirational day.
It was the culmination of a very busy time for the branch with multiple projects on the go. We spent all day Thursday with Gregory Andrews walking and talking mahogany glider in mahogany glider country. We couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to provide an understanding of this species to the federal government – we did this with our partners, Terrain NRM, Girringun and Mungalla TO Rangers, CCRC, WTMA, QPWS. Meeting cane farmer Sam Tomisi and the Green Army Team on the federally funded Stone River “Joining the Dots” project – Gregory and his staff in Canberra had been instrumental in finding the funding for this lead Mahogany Glider Priority Corridor in 2014… we will post a complete rundown of tour tour shortly…
But now the images that tell the story of WCD 2015…I hope they make you smile!
