MURRAY UPPER REVEGETATION 2014

This Plot of HQ Plantations next to the Primary School has been the focus of most of our efforts in 2014. Following the site preparations undertaken by HQ in 2013 it was decided that the most efficient way to prepare for the wet season planting was an aerial spraying of herbicide. The first community planting was then held at the start of the wet season.150 trees were planted at the front of the block. These have grown so well that many are flowering already. In order to maintain the benefit of the herbicide in what was a long wet season, the remainder of the planting of the block was done by NEATO team workers, Girringun rangers and local revegers. This enabled much of this large block to be planted up ahead of the weeds. Because of a long wet season it was necessary to do follow up spraying and brushcutting to give the little trees a chance. Their biggest threat now is a prolonged dry . We look forward to completing the planting of this block in the coming wet season, 2015 with more community plantings and the involvement of the school.
